Varaha Karthik Pattisapu is a highly skilled Software Engineer with 2.86 years of experience in developing distributed and high-performance applications. He is currently working at Sleepiz AG, where he has been instrumental in the architectural design and development of a fault-tolerant notification service to alert concerned parties regarding the occurrence of events defined by business requirements and service-level-agreements (SLAs). Varaha has also designed and developed an event-driven, distributed, modular and asynchronous analysis pipeline using messaging queues to extract vital-signs from Sleepiz IoT recording data. This has reduced the waiting times for processing of a recording from about 2-3h to almost zero, and cut down the infrastructure costs by a quarter. He has conducted independent research into identifying the software bottlenecks of the sleep analysis machine learning algorithms and proposed to vectorize and Cythonize the computations that resulted in an average of 2x computational speed gain. Varaha has developed a system to remotely monitor breathing rate and heart rate of a Sleep Apnea patient in real-time using contactless Sleepiz IoT device. He has also been instrumental in refactoring the database schema to allow for faster loading times and migration of data to the newer schema while ensuring 0% data loss. Additionally, he has developed utility scripts to automate some of the regular and repetitive tasks that increased the operational efficiency of the team. Varaha holds a Master's degree in Machine Learning/Data Science from ETH Zurich and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.
